“If it’s not good than it’s just not good.” My friend told me this after he asked how my drink was and I replied, “it’s alright”.
This is a lesson in calling something by it’s proper name. But the lesson I want to stress is that you should not settle for second-best, or “OK”, or mediocre. If the drink isn’t thoroughly enjoyable, why drink it? Get another one. Get the drink you really wanted.
Apply this to any other area of life: your job, the car you drive, the place you live, the girl you’re dating, or even the clothes you wear. Don’t waste time on what you don’t really want in life; it’s not fair to yourself. (In the case of a wife or girlfriend, it’s not fair to them either!)
And remember: Life gives you what you settle for. It does not give you what you really want. To get what you really want, you have to seek it, pursue it, and sometimes fight for it.
Whatever you do, don’t settle for mediocrity.
